[BUG] String#index does not work correctly on SuSE10.0 x86_64

From: "Kanis, Lars" <Kanis@...>
Date: 2005-11-22 16:42:42 UTC
List: ruby-core #6721
Hi folks,

the following command line prints "9" on SuSE9.1 (32-Bit) and WindowsXP 32Bit OneKlickInstaller:
# ruby -e "p %q{p1031'/> <b><c n='field'/><c n='fl}.index(%q{<b><c n='field'/><c n='fl})"
But on SuSE10.0 x86_64 the string is not found and "nil" is printed.

I tried ruby version 1.8.2 (bundled with SuSE10.0) and with self compiled Version:
# ruby --version
ruby 1.8.4 (2005-10-29) [x86_64-linux]

# gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.0.2 20050901 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)

# uname -a
Linux comdb1 2.6.13-15-smp #1 SMP Tue Sep 13 14:56:15 UTC 2005 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux

It seems to be a bug or compilation error in the function rb_memsearch(x0, m, y0, n) in re.c
