Following up to myself because I have such a script now, and I have
some results attached.  The script writes itself to the beginning of
the results (because of things like 
MAKE=/usr/local/bin/gmake
which are subject to change, so will effect the results.

I don't think this is the most elegant way of doing this, and for
building ruby on totally new systems I should replace the code using
$STABLERUBY with some fancy awk footwork, but my awk skills are not
up to that.

Hoping that this allows reproduction of warnings on various
systems...
