You can use the following under Ruby:

	a = %q!
	    1. line
	    2. line
	!

The construct `%q<delimiter>' can be used for single quotes,
`%Q<delimiter>' for double quotes. You can also use `%<delimiter>' to
represent double quotes! E.g.

	a = %&
	    1. line
	    2. line
	&

I like that more than Python's `"""' trick.
