rb_require() つまり rb_f_require() には *.so でないスタティックリンクされている
拡張ライブラリを require するパスがないのです。今だと、
ファイルがないとエラーになります。拡張ライブラリ自体は miniruby
じゃない ruby だと常に初期化されますが、digest/md5 とかが rb_require("digetst")
するのでそこでエラーになるのです。
対症療法でやったパッチだしよくないのは分かっているのと、
rb_raise(rb_eLoadError, "No such file to load -- %s", RSTRING(fname)->ptr);
の直前かなと思ったものの、スタティックリンクされている拡張ライブラリを
探すのに IO 操作を伴うファイル探しをした後にするのはなんか嫌な感じがしたので
ああしたのです。というか、スタティックリンクされていても、*.so があったら
そっち優先になっているのかな。
