小宮です。

ruby-mode.el の ruby-mode.el 1.33 を XEmacs 21.1 で使うと、バッファ
の内容を変更する度に以下の警告が表示されます。

   (1) (warning/warning) Error caught in `font-lock-pre-idle-hook'

[ruby-dev:13515] で導入された ruby-font-lock-maybe-docs の中で使わ
れている match-string-no-properties が存在しないのが原因のようです。
単なる match-string に変えてみたところ、手元では正常に動作している
ようです。

わざわざ match-string-no-properties になっているのを差し替えてしまっ
ていいものか良くわからないのですが、一応、以下の 
describe-function の記述を根拠にしています。

| (Under XEmacs, `equal' also ignores text properties and extents in
