I also tried compiling a shared library, so -fPIC was thrown on once. Still, I'm at my wits' end, so I just tried -O0 (same problem), -O1 (got further, but still segfaulted, in a different place), -O2 (same as -O1), and -O3 (same again). :( Thanks for the suggestions, Brian.
