Summary: Error installing Ruby gem

Initial Comment:
I downloaded Ruby from FXRuby and put it on my C: drive.  I have eMachines PC running Windows XP. i entered

> gem install fxruby-1.6.6-mswin.gem

and received

ERROR: While executing gem ... <Gem::RemoteFetcher::FetchError>
getaddrinfo: no address associated with hostname. <SocketError>

My PC is not on the internet and I have no Ethernet card.
