[BUG] Carriage return on shebang
Moin. If you have a trailing carriage return on the script's shebang and are invoking it through the shell Ruby will report the error condition quite badly. (This will happen, for example, if you execute scripts with windows style newlines on Unix.) IMHO it should ignore a trailing carriage return in ARGV. Here's how it reports the error: ruby foo.rb (-h will show valid options) This is because it outputs the \r literally which will cause the shell to overwrite the part of the line that comes before it as in "ruby: invalid option -w\r (-h will show valid options)" which is quite confusing and does not really help you much at finding out what went wrong. If you can think of any problems that ignoring trailing carriage returns would cause, please tell me. Thanks. Regards, Florian Gross
