My problem with it is that I think it's got a line-noise quality that I don't usually associate with Ruby. A secondary problem is that it adds one to the already long list of proc/lambda/block idioms. I can learn to recognize almost any punctuation sequence (hey, I used to read Perl very fluently :-) but -> is always going to look like an arrow, and I don't think it will ever feel right to me for an arrow to be a lambda literal constructor.
