I think that in 1.9, proc and Proc.new will be identical, and lambda
will be different. This came up at RubyConf 2003, where Matz agreed
that it was confusing to have proc and Proc.new return different
things, and said he would deprecate proc. I think proc is staying, but
it won't be different from Proc.new; at least, that's my current
understanding.
