  sqrt 使うと重くなるので
    atan(pi/4 - x) == (1 - atan(x))/(1 + atan(x))
を使うのはどうでしょう。
atan(BigDecimal("0.7"), 100) で実験したところ倍くらい速く
なるようです。

使った実装も試してみたかったのですが誤差の見積もり方がわから
ないのであきらめました。
