Seems like a real bug, don't know whether ruby or gcc to be blamed
though. Former mail says it happens on both 1.9 / 1.8, so I bet this is
a gcc bug.

No, 1.8.7 won't move to BSDL (nor GPLv3). Licensing change impacts
those already-deployed systems and I believe that is not what everyone want.
