英語ドキュメントを書いてみました。おかしな点をご指摘ください。

DOSish:module
  DOSish file name processing module

DOSish.drivename(path)
  Ruterns the drive letter or the network drive name of path.

  the drive letter
    C:
  the network drive name
    \\server\share

DOSish.rootdir(path)
  Returns the root directory part of path.

  If path is not only a drive letter or a network drive name,
  the return value is equal to as follows.

    DOSish.drivename(path) + '/'

  If path is absolute which starts by / as UNIX, returns / .

DOSish.dirname(path)
  Returns the directory part of path.
  / does not apper to the end of the return value as long as
  path is not a root directory.

DOSish.basename(path[, ext])
  Returns the file name part of path.
  If ext is corresponding to the path end, it is removed from
  the return value.

DOSish.split(path)
  Path is divided into the directory and the file name.
  the return value is concretely as follows.

    [ DOSish.dirname(path), DOSish.basename(path) ]

DOSish.join(path1, path2, ...)
  Combines paths using File::SEPARATOR. chop the path before it
  combined if the path is a root directory.
