I'm attaching a one-line patch that fixes a small regexp bug. I
reported this to comp.lang.ruby for 1.8.4 . Guy Decoux supplied the
fix but as of today it has still not been applied to the ruby_1_8
branch. I have no idea why: I have heard nonthing more since the fix
was posted to the newsgroup.
Briefly, the following test script should report a successful match
for all three regular expressions, but the bug makes the second one
fail.
---
#!/usr/bin/env ruby
$VERBOSE = true
string = 'a'
puts "%-8s : %s" %
[ "string", string, ]
[ %r{Z?},
%r{(?=Z)?}, # does not match!!!
%r{((?=Z))?},
].each do |re|
puts "%-8s : %s" %
[ re.source, re.match(string) ? "yes" : "no", ]
end
