Regarding threads, there is some scheduling problem that could be
mitigated by using a monotonic clock if available. Unfortunately, I
don't have enough C skill to provide a full fix. Basically, it would
require to change one method, timeofday() in eval.c, and add some
headers for the linux/posix? platform.
