I'll mention again some weirdness of JRuby in Windows compared to Linux. Both are RUBY_PLATFORM == 'java' but in Windows you don't have unixsockets... So, the only way to determine the platform for your code to run is combine RUBY_PLATFORM + JRUBY_VERSION is being defined. Now, what about IronRuby, or better yet IronRuby on Mono?
