Ruby-Stable Snapshot build

Okay, I am having a problem with ruby-stable snapshot.

When i run make on FreeBSD 5.2.1 (even gmake) as root
it gets stuck at zlib and stops without erroring.

last line of make is

"zlib"

However, if I run make as a non-priv'ed user it builds
find and the last line is the line that builds ruby. I
found this out when I was trying to `make install` and
it couldn't find "ruby" on the 'install' command. Is
this a bug?
