Very good idea! I assume you know Perl and Python very well? I think
for posting in comp.lang.misc, an simple announcement which shortly
describes what Ruby is, should be enough. But I would propose,
nevertheless you should highlight the true GC feature. That among other
features, should make it extremly easy to write extensions in C for
Ruby.

For comp.lang.perl.misc, you could emphase the similar syntax, the
easier embedding in C, easier enhancement with own extensions written in
C and true GC. I have not done many benchmarks, but on my Linux system
at home (Pentium 200MHz), Ruby is a tick faster then Perl. Worth to
mention? I don't know.

For comp.lang.python, you could highlight the true GC, the possibility
to code a class in C AND derive it in Ruby, the visibility modifier
like private, protected and public, and the possibility to write progs
which owns the similar shape as Python ones. If you compare, e.g. the
sgml-parser.rb with the sgmllib.py, you will find, that the look of the
both if very similar. I don't mean the algorithm, but the look-a-like!

Of course, these all are only hints. But I really think you should
prepare three articles, for every group one, as Pythoners and Perlees
can sometimes a little bit fanatic concerning theirs language. So the
postings should not be off-topic, but related to that group.

One hint: don't mention the superiority of Ruby about Python or Perl.
Let them find out themself. You may live longer then ;-))))))))))))

Sayonara,
Cle.
