I have good experience with ABI compliance checker [1]. It is as easy as 
to run "abi-compliance-checker -l ruby -old n-1-libruby.so -new 
n-libruby.so".

Also, from that page, you can get directions to Upstream Tracker [2], 
which seems to be something like travis-ci, checking API 
changes/compatibility, but I have no experience with that.
