It can be said, that all you can do with Perl is also possible with
Ruby. And much better, IMHO!!! In Ruby, regexps are normal
objects. But Ruby features an own syntax for regexp creation, very
similar to Perl's one.

Best would be, you go into ruby-lang.org, and look for the manual, and
Goto Kentaros excellent tutorial. These both was enough for me to
learn Ruby. If you didn't understand something, you could ask here!
But it would be better to read Goto's FAQ first, and search in the
ruby-talk mailing list archive.

This reminds me, that we should organize a page for beginners only,
where all these information are given, plus useful URLs (e.g. for
mailing list search).

Unfortunately none. And AFAIK, matz has not planned to translate his
