Would an administrator kindly remove my email address from this mailing lis=
t?

It's not my intent to bother anyone or be lazy about this. I understand tha=
t there is a procedure in place to unsubscribe. But it doesn't work for me.=
 I've followed the directions for unsubscribing exactly as they have been p=
rovided, and for me, for whatever reason, they don't work.

I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Thanks, Ryan. I think my issue might be that my email (Outlook) was sending=
 HTML not plain text. I changed that but now I've got a different problem: =
I don't receive the confirmation email (Step 2 in your description below). =
And I'm not already unsubscribed because I keep on getting emails from the =
mailing list. I've since tried sending the initial unsubscribe request in b=
oth HTML and plain text and I don't receive any response. I've also tried r=
esponding (Step 3) in plain text to the original (Step 2) confirmation emai=
ls that I received (before asking for help) but nothing happens: not the fi=
nal (Step 4) response or even the one I was originally getting about "no ef=
fective commands, blah, blah."

When I originally sent (multiple) unsubscribe requests, the server responde=
d right away.

Any ideas why there is now no response at all?

Just reply as-is. Don't change the body at all. I just unsubscribed and
resubscribed and it worked fine. My steps:

1. send "unsubscribe" in the body to ruby-talk-ctl@ruby-lang.org from my
subscribed email address.
2. get back an email for confirmation.
3. hit reply, hit send. It looked something like this:

> blah blah

>=20

>>>> unsubscribe
> unsubscribe-confirm 201305300736321631415926 ryand-ruby zenspider.com
>=20
> blah blah

I didn't change the body at all. Do make sure that it too is sent from the
subscribed address. (I use email address extensions to sort into mailboxes
and track spammers... like Nicholas Meyler!)

4. Get a final response that you've been unsubscribed.

Extra data: I'm using osx's mail.app and sending/receiving plain text email=
.
Your mail client should also be sending plain text email to ruby-talk-ctl@.
