　そういえば、 JRuby は GPL なのでまったく同じケースですね。
作者の人達と話をしておいた方がいいかな。

　つまり、以下のように考えればよいのかな。

- インタプリタ言語の処理系の場合、仮に全体が GPL としてあると、
  組み込み関数・ライブラリはもちろん、インタプリタエンジン自体が
  GPL なので、実行に際しては GPL のコードとリンクされて動くことに
  なる。よって GPL でないコードをその上で実行させるのは GPL 違反。

- コンパイラ言語の処理系の場合、たとえば gcc は GPL だが、吐いた
  opcode には GPL は適用されないとあり、スタートアップコードや
  組み込みのインライン関数(printf() -> puts() の"最適化"とか..)
  なども GPL とされていない。こういうケースでは、たとえ gcc を
  前提に書かれたプログラムであっても、それをコンパイルして得た
  バイナリは GPL なコードを実行時リンクせずに動く。よって動かす
  プログラムのソースやバイナリは処理系の GPL の影響は受けない。


　Ruby も、改変後 GPL を採用して再配布した場合、受けとった人は
GPL コンパチなコードしか動かせないということになりそうですね。

　上の RMS の見解を見れば、当たると考えて間違いないと思います。
*.so の場合はもちろん、 *.rb でも実行時にロード・コンパイルして
呼び出すのですから同じことでしょう。
