Because you are using an inline variable substitute (#{}). You can escape
it, as below:

>print <<TEST
>    xxxx
>    yyyy
>    "abc"
>
>class A
>    def initialize(*args, &block)
>      puts '---'
>      puts "args <#{ args.inspect }>"

	puts "args <\#{ args.inspect }>" 

>      block.call if block
>    end
>end
>TEST
