Thanks for pointing out my stupidity (although, I haven't tried it yet,
but I'm sure you're correct)

Another probably stupid question while we're talking about
LD_LIBRARY_PATH.  I compiled tk support into ruby as well, and
specified the correct LD..PATH in my .profile, but when I su - root and
whatnot, it's not specified and ruby fails to load because of it.  We
have the root user local to each box, the ruby installation is an nfs
mount.  Is there any way to tell ruby (a config file (local to the ruby
install) or something) to use that LD..PATH by default instead of
having to modify all the profiles?

Thanks a bunch for your help!  Love the book and the language!  I keep
wondering why anyone still uses perl or python.
