What about vim w/ each file on a separate window, and these mappings:

map <C-J> <C-W>j<C-W>_
map <C-K> <C-W>k<C-W>_

you can use (exuberant) ctags for Ruby, but last time I tried it didn't
work very well: Foo#bar and Bar#bar were not differentiated IIRC.
