It's written for newcomers to programming, and it's much better than it sounds from the title! _Programming Ruby_ by Dave Thomas and Andrew Hunt, also known as the pickaxe book, is truly excellent, but it is written for programmers, and you would be best off learning what is in Slagell's book first. After that, you might want to get _The Ruby Way_ by Hal Fulton. Regards, Oinkoink
