You should, at some point, be able to run rdoc on the full source code 
and get the same API docs as you would find on ruby-doc.org (modulo 
recent updates to the latest CVS)

I believe there have been discussions (on ruby-core?) on whether this 
should happen by default as part of the installation process, or if it 
should be a deliberately chosen option (something like --with-rdoc or 
whatever).

I'd argue for installing docs by default.
