I like that approach *if* proper online documentation is in place.  This is
what happens with the cygwin install:

$ ri String
No ri documentation found in:
     /usr/share/ri/1.8/system
     /usr/share/ri/1.8/site
     /home/Robert/.rdoc

Was rdoc run to create documentation?

I don't say it's your fault I just feel that there is no single and
consistent documentation standard for ruby.  Although there is ruby-doc.org
IMHO there should be a complete online reference shipped with each
installation.  Or am I missing something?

And, yes, the chapter-alphabetical organization makes finding things more
difficult than it should be.  That can certainly improved on.
