Subject: [ruby-talk:9549] deamon with auth

Hi ruby guys

I did the choice of ruby for a project i'm on which is based on a deamon where you log in to access it's features.
Some scripting languages were tested, after what i took ruby as the most convenient.
The basic code of the auth part of the daemon run as well, but my problem is security :
what can i do to prevent from annoyements like 'flood' at the login prompt, from overflow attempts, etc ...
Can i limit the reading for the login at N characters for the socket ?
(don't forget that i'm new on ruby, please don't flame me for this)

If somebody has code examples, it is welcome :)
