Re: HP-UX Socket Build sa_len error

From: "Ray Capozzi" <Ray_Capozzi@...>
Date: 2004-03-17 23:24:42 UTC
List: ruby-talk #95163
For the record, it can be done. It seems 11i support both BSD and Linux
sockets. Oh boy. Heart be still. This causes some 'known issues whem
porting to hpux 11i. Here is what I did to build socket.sl:

1. Define these environment variables (per
http://devrsrc1.external.hp.com/STKL/inhibitors.html#UNIX98):
export CC="cc -Ae +Z"
export CFLAGS="-O -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500"
export LDFLAGS='-L"/usr/local/lib"'
export UNIX_STD=98

2. Run ./configure

3. Run make. Socket's make will fail.

4. Add following flags to complie line for socket's make:
-D_OPEN_SOURCE=500
-D_XOPEN_SOURCE_EXTENDED

5. Remove following from socket's compile
-DHAVE_SA_LEN
-DHAVE_SIN_LEN

6. Copy unix98.o to socket's directory (ext/socket).

7. Run make from ext/socket to produce socket.o. Make will fail on the
link.

8. Run link again, but replace '-lsocket' with '-lxnet'.
