From: Andre Nathan Date: 2004-03-15T03:14:47+09:00 Subject: [ANN] dime-0.2 Hi Dime (Distributed Monitoring Environment) version 0.2 is out at http://dime.rubyforge.org Dime is a real-time service monitor that tests a number of services on a set of hosts and reports failures on those tests to the network administrator. These reports can be configured to be sent as on-screen messages at the network administrator's workstation (using ruby-libxosd2), or as an email message. New features on version 0.2: - Alert messages can now be sent by email. This allows dime to be configured on a non-distributed setup, if ``email'' is the only notification method selected; - Service-specific checks were added for HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3 and IMAP. If a different service is configured, dime will use the old generic check; - The alert notifications are a bit more admin-friendly; - Dime now uses Nathaniel Talbott's DRbFire DRb protocol, so that it can be used on firewalled setups. Best regards, Andre
