I just wanted to add my two cents in here. If you are willing to invest in the learning curve of using FreeBASE, it would be an excellent choice. But there would be a learning curve. FreeBASE was developed as part of FreeRIDE which is, itself, entirely plugin based. It was designed to separate and independent of FreeRIDE. Rich Kilmer is using it in a couple other projects, and I also using it in another project. When we have time, we will break out FreeBASE into its own RubyForge project.
