Subject: [ruby-talk:9341] simple syslog extension

Sure hope this doesn't appear twice. I posted this to
comp.lang.ruby, but have little faith in our news feeds at the
moment, so attempting the list directly. (Of course watch the post
get through this time ;-)

Anyway, as part of learning Ruby I wrote my first tiny extension.
It is for syslog on UNIX systems. The URL is:

   ftp://ftp.utdallas.edu/pub/staff/amos/ruby/syslog.tar.gz

It's pretty simple, really. Though, being that I'm new to this
intriguing language, I imagine it could be done better. If folks
have advice on how to improve it, please let me know.
