For the pre-built Perl solutions look at the suggestions
in "perldoc -q nesting".  Most have equivalents in many
other languages.  (In fact none were original to Perl.)
Any of those that do not yet exist in Ruby could be
useful.

Considering how well Ruby managed to steal from Perl, if
you can figure out how to encapsulate what Icon does well
as well, that might be handy. :-)
