i'm very new to ruby and to this group (or mailing list, for some you). when
i stumbled on it last week it felt like a step back in time to before the
world invaded usenet. time is now going to speed up. Conrad was
forward-looking but you are going to need some fancy footwork to deal with
what's coming. the list appears to have grown by a factor of two in the one
week or so i've been on it (or is that just an xmas hangover?). anyone want
to make a guess at what it's likely to be in six months? my guess is that
matz is already tearing his hair out trying to keep up with the traffic on
while continuing to develop the language and probably holding down a day
job.

well, matz, you've only got yourself to blame. who do you think you are
creating a language this good?

conclusion: someone do an rfc. by the time it's done we'll have the traffic
to justify it. and de-couple comp.lang.ruby from the developers mailing
list.
