Having done that, I'll say that: (a) perltidy looks extremely useful; (b)
no rubytidy exists AFAIK; (c) I've proposed such a program for Ruby in the
past, believing that to be better than editor-dependent solutions.

I'm taking a look at perltidy to see if it can be adapted.  Low
expectations...
