Subject: [ruby-talk:8991] Why File::Stat?

I'm assuming that Stat is embedded inside File just
for convenience and namespace management and
grouping of related stuff.

Is there some deeper reason I'm missing?

Also, I don't really remember seeing any discussion
here of nested classes... though apparently they
exist. Are they ever Really Useful or just a mild
curiosity?
