That the reason why I am in favor of eliminating @@var's 
[ruby-talk:86744] and replacing their role with "class_accessors".

Actually I'd don't mind the @_var notation esthetically - in fact
both @@var and $var are more unappealing to me - (I dislike
the latter the most, even �var looks better to me:-)
