Subject: [ruby-talk:8598] static rb_xxx_modify() functions

Hello --

I have a question, for Matz [hi Matz!] and/or anyone who might have an
insight into it, about the rb_xxx_modify() taint-checking functions in
the Ruby source.  Namely: what's the reason that rb_array_modify() and
rb_hash_modify() are defined as static, while rb_str_modify is not?
(I noticed this while working on various array and string extensions
with bang methods.)
