Subject: [ruby-talk:8545] ruby load path

Hi,

Currently, ruby hardcoded the --prefix=/rubypath
configure option into its executable. If I need
to change the ruby install location, I have to
use RUBYLIB or recompile. Since it is quite common
that ruby install looks like
/rubypath/bin
/rubypath/lib

Would it be possible to allow search of  relative path
(relative to the ruby executable) such as
$: =  ../lib(all the standard stuff)

so that ruby can always find its standard library
regardless of install prefix
