I always compile everything with --prefix=/mingw where /mingw --> c:\MinGW i.e.
everything under MinGW tree.

Ruby pre2 compiled without any problem (MinGW 3.1.0 & MSYS 1.0.10rc2).

What is the contents of your fstab?
