I'll reply: I have no enthusiasm :-) I have lots to say on topics other than Ruby, but I don't define such discourse as "off-topic Ruby discussion". 'Tis a stretch. > But the full potential of a community of knowledgeable people is not met > without off-topic discussion. But this is a limited-purpose forum (a potentially productive tool, even of knowledgeable people :-) which is why everyone should come to the #ruby-lang channel on irc.freenode.net, where there's lots of on- and off-topic conversation and it doesn't clog up a mailing list. Yes, #ruby-lang is also a limited-purpose forum. But the ethos is very different over there. And there's a ton of interesting Ruby discussion and electronic comradery. It's also a great place to ask questions. Come see for yourselves :-) David -- David Alan Black home: dblack@superlink.net work: blackdav@shu.edu Web: http://pirate.shu.edu/~blackdav
