It is hard coded in String#inspect method, so you have to
override it.

    alias __inspect_orig__ inspect
    def inspect
      s = __inspect_orig__()
      s.sub!(/'/, "\\\\'")

      s.gsub!(/(\A"|"\z)/, "'")
    end
