Subject: Clarifiction needed about versions

Hi!
Could any kind soul please tell me the connections between
different ruby-versions, please?

ruby 1.6.8 is the stable release, not much development, there,
but how are 1.7.*, 1.8-preview* and the daily snapshot related?
