Performance can become very fast completely unuseable. The latest Java release reduced the reflexion overhead by a factor 10-20. But it still hurts to go through all the security checks of the java platform. This was the reason for SUN to use this anonymous inner classes in Swing instead to go through the Reflextion API. But if you want to interact with a high level Java API it will be okay.
