DataVision is an Open Source reporting tool similar to Crystal Reports.
Reports can be designed using a drag-and-drop GUI. They may be run, viewed,
and printed from the application or exported as HTML, XML, PDF, LaTeX2e,
DocBook, or tab- or comma-delimited text files. The output files produced
by LaTeX2e and DocBook can in turn be used to produce PDF, text, HTML,
PostScript, and more.
DataVision is written in Java and uses Ruby (thanks to JRuby) as its
scripting and formula language.
Changes:
* The HTML layout engine turns newlines into XTML breaks.
* The Group Record Count special field now works within detail sections,
where it returns the number of the current record within the innermost
report group. If there are no groups, it returns the report row number as
before.
Bug fixes:
* When a database connection is reset, the SQL query will no longer contain
duplicate tables.
* Formulas in group headers that contain column fields are now evaluated
properly.
* Hidden fields will now display properly when dragged.
* When running the report designer within an applet, only try to read the
report XML file if the report-url applet parameter is specified.
