There's mysocket.setsockopt(Socket::IPPROTO_TCP, Socket::TCP_NODELAY, 1) which turns off the Nagle delay (typically the packet is delayed for ~100ms before sending to see if there's subsequent data to amalgamate into the same TCP segment).
