Ruby is no where near that level of 'extra' functionality. Sure, it could be done.. but it has yet to be done. Also... PHP => high level of integration in Apache + high level of integration in Linux == high level of integration in _cheap_ hosting solutions (which is the same as - it's everywhere). What you could do better than PHP is to go the Coldfusion route... and _not_ require delimiters that mark out specific sections of 'processable' code, as well as store a 'precompiled' version of the source for quicker execution. PHP :: (evaluated everytime) Coldfusion:: (evaluated only if source file has been changed since last compilation - otherwise the compiled version is executed) The deciding factor will be: is it already running on every 'cheap' to free hosting provider? -Rich > So, what can we learn from the PHP camp?
