Subject: How long until 1.8?

Is 1.8 going to be released soon? What's left to be done?

I've been running cvs HEAD for a while now (updating every few days),
and it all seems pretty stable. Plus, the pace of fixing bugs/adding
new stuff seems to have slowed.
