Subject: What kind of book is PickAxe?

Hello,

The recent discussion about PickAxe made me wonder, what kind of book
would you say PickAxe is? Right now I can only think of 3 kinds of
books:

- Tutorial (e.g. _Learn_Ruby_in_21_days_)
- Reference (e.g. _Ruby_in_a_Nutshell_)
- Cookbook (e.g. _The_Ruby_Way_ )

PickAxe doesn't seem to fit any of the above.

How would you categorize PickAxe?
